The focus of the second day in Oman started in Muscat, the largest city and capital of the country. The city is situated on the Gulf of Oman and is surrounded by desert and mountains. I began the day by asking the Sultan if I could borrow his boat for a trip around the harbor. Sadly, he said no.
After being turned away at the yacht, it was then time for a walk along the corniche. The path of the corniche goes past several attractive buildings, monuments, parks, and mosques.
Up on the hill, you can see the Mutrah Fort built by the Portuguese in the 1580’s. Up on the hill, the fort protected the city from attacks from the sea.
